A quality abaya is a daily-wear garment — which means it takes daily-wear abuse. The difference between an abaya that lasts two years and one that lasts seven is care. By fabric:
Linen-effect (like the MA341)
Machine wash cold on gentle, inside a mesh bag if it has embellishments. The Premium Linen Effect Pullover Abaya resists creasing better than true linen, but hang it to dry immediately after the cycle — gravity does the ironing. Medium iron or steamer if needed.
Nida
The silky drape that makes nida premium also makes it delicate. Cold gentle cycle or hand wash, never wring — press water out between towels. Hang-dry away from sun; nida holds dye beautifully but UV is UV.
Crepe
The most forgiving: cold wash, hang dry, and its texture hides minor wrinkles entirely. This is why crepe khimars like the MK005 are travel MVPs.
Universal rules
- Wash dark colors inside-out, with darks. A faded black abaya is the most avoidable tragedy in modest fashion.
- Skip the dryer. Heat is how florals fade, hems warp, and lengths shrink.
- Steam, don't iron, embellished pieces — beads and embroidery melt under direct plates. Hotel trick: hang in the bathroom during a hot shower.
- Store on wide hangers. Wire hangers dent shoulders; folded storage creases the drape. Give daily abayas closet-rod respect.
Rotating two or three abayas (see the buying guide for choosing them) halves the wear on each — the cheapest longevity hack there is.
